BENTEL EXHIBITION 2002, NEW YORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, OLD WESTBURY, NY After nearly twenty years as a faculty member and active practitioner and shortly after the death of Maria Bentel, his spouse and partner – also a professor of architecture at New York Institute of Technology, Fred Bentel was asked by the school to mount of show of their work as well as that of the subsequent generation of designers headed up by his two sons, Paul and Peter, as well as their wives, Carol and Susan. The exhibition records the large number of projects the firm has carried out in a variety of program types. It also shows the breath of their design imagination, with projects ranging from Forensic Crime Laboratories to museums, schools, libraries to hotel, restaurants and clubs. In all their work, Bentel & Bentel has emphasized the collaborative working method and the role buildings play within and as a catalyst for communities.
