RIVER HOUSE (WALDE) WASHINGTON, MO - This residence is sited next to a tributary of the Missouri River on a corn field 200 x 3000 feet in size. The design uses early Missouri-French river houses from the 1790’s as a model. The house is located on the site to view future vineyards and the existing stream. The layout creates outdoor “rooms”: the entry courtyard, pool area (future) and service court. The large wood shingled roof, vertical siding, mahogany columns, Missouri Limestone covered walks, and kicked-out eaves are reminiscent of the “poteaux-en-terre” Missouri building type. The interior is an open plan focused on a dry stack Missouri stone fireplace & central post construction
