RUBY MOUNTAIN CAMP, NORTH RIVER, NY - Ruby Mountain Camp takes its name from the adjacent Ruby Mountain, the site of the first Garnet mine in the Adirondacks and the source of the cornerstone for the new World Trade Towers at Ground Zero. Its form pays homage to the now defunct mine buildings by its compact form and weathered exterior board siding. Private sleeping cells are arranged as a raised internal three story structure free of exterior walls. The shared life of the family is accommodated on the main floor which takes full advantage of the dramatic three story interior volume.
